Step by step

  1. Export from ChatGPT: Settings, Data Controls, Export Data, then confirm the email. The ZIP arrives by email, usually within minutes, sometimes hours.
  2. Export from Claude: Settings, Privacy, Export data. Claude also emails a ZIP. Both links expire, so download them the same day.
  3. Drop both ZIPs in: Drop the ChatGPT ZIP, then press Add more and drop the Claude ZIP. The chat list shows both platforms, with a count for each.
  4. Search once: Tap the mic or type what you remember. Results from both tools are ranked together with the matching passage shown.
  5. Keep what matters: Add the matches to your export and download one Word, PDF, Markdown, CSV or JSON file with only those chats.

How the search decides what matches

Words in the chat title count more than words in passing. Word endings are matched, so "renovating" finds "renovation." Filler words like "the" and "about" are ignored, which is why you can just say what you remember in a normal sentence.

Privacy

Both exports are read inside your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded to ChatExports, and the search itself runs on your device. The mic uses your browser's speech feature to turn your voice into text; type instead if you would rather not use it.
