Perplexity threads export as Markdown from the thread menu, and full account history through a data request. Drop either into ChatExports to download threads as Word, PDF, Markdown, CSV, or text with source citations preserved.

Short answer

Perplexity is a research tool, so its output is only worth keeping if the citations survive. That is the detail most downloaders lose, and it is the reason copy and paste is not good enough here.

Two export routes

Per thread. Open a thread, use the share or export menu, and take the Markdown copy. Fast, and fine for the handful of threads you actually cite.

Whole account. Request your data through account settings and Perplexity produces an archive of your history. Slower, and the only route if you want everything.

Citations are the whole point

A Perplexity answer without its sources is an unattributed claim. When converting, the references need to arrive as:

Inline markers next to the sentence they support
A numbered source list at the end of each thread
Live URLs rather than stripped text, so you can verify later

In Word and PDF output the links stay clickable, which is what makes the file usable as a research record instead of a summary you have to redo.

Follow-ups and Pro searches

Perplexity threads branch through follow-up questions, and Pro searches include a reasoning pass before the answer. A useful download keeps the follow-up sequence in order so the thread reads as the investigation it was, rather than a pile of disconnected answers.

Does Perplexity have a bulk export?

Per-thread export is built in, and a full account data request covers everything else. There is no one-click bulk button in the interface.

Are citations kept in the downloaded file?

Yes. Inline markers and the source list are preserved, and links remain clickable in Word and PDF.

Do Spaces and Collections come through?

Threads inside them export the same way, and the grouping is retained where the export includes it.

Is an extension needed?

No. The converter reads the exported file directly in the browser.
